Khelmart seeks to establish thought leadership in online sports goods segment

  • Sharebar, which started its operations in November, 2012, is now planning to outdone its competitors through a social awareness campaign. The campaign would educate the customers about the key points to remember while purchasing a sports equipment. “Indian people love sports. Buying a sports equipment is one of the very few guiltless purchases for the Indian men. But with so many brands out there, choosing the right equipment is a difficult task. We are planning to educate our customers about the right equipment to be chosen for a better performance” says Mr. B. P. Gupta, Founder & CEO. In the initial phase, Khelmart would launch the campaign for three sports: Cricket, Badminton and Tennis. In its campaign, Khelmart would also point out the ways to judge the quality of the equipments in all three sports.
Khelmart is collaborating with national level players to create a substantial knowledge base. The online retailer of sports goods has already created more than 200 videos to demonstrate the best products. It has also launched for the same purpose. According to the CEO, for other big retailers such as Jabong or Snapdeal, sports equipments is just another category like other product lines they have while the other specialized sports goods retailer are too much sales focused and doing nothing in order to educate the customer.
Khelmart is seeking to make a strong hold in the smaller cities and towns. “They have the passion for sports not lesser than any big city guy but the non availability of quality products is taking a toll on the sports culture” commented Mr. Gupta. After dominating the search engines for almost all of the competitive keywords, Khelmart, which is currently processing around 50 orders a day, is hoping to take the number of daily orders to 250 by the end of next quarter.
